Wedding Photography Cost Calculator

Typical price ranges by region, hours and add-ons.

Wedding photography is one of the bigger lines in a wedding budget, and prices vary wildly. This calculator gives you a realistic planning range before you start reading collections and price guides.

Wedding photography cost calculator

Typical price ranges by region, hours and add-ons.

Choose your region, how many hours you want covered and how experienced a photographer you are looking for, then add the extras you are considering. The bars show where the money goes so you can see which add-on moves the total most.

The ranges are broad on purpose. Two photographers with the same hours can be thousands of dollars apart because of experience, demand, editing style, what is included and how much time they spend with you before the wedding.

Use the midpoint as a budget line, then compare real quotes on what is included: hours, a second shooter, number of edited images, delivery time, print rights, an engagement session and the album.

How it works

  • Each region has a typical 8-hour range; coverage scales from that baseline.
  • Experience shifts the range down for newer photographers and up for in-demand ones.
  • Add-ons use broad market ranges and are added on top.
  • Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Questions, answered

What is a normal price for a wedding photographer?

For an established photographer and around 8 hours of coverage, many couples in Texas and Arizona see quotes in the low-to-mid thousands, with major metros running higher. Use the calculator for your region.

Is a second shooter worth it?

For weddings over about 100 guests, or when both partners get ready in different places, a second photographer means you get both sides of the day and candid guest moments during portraits.

Can we save money on wedding photography?

Trim hours at the end of the night, skip the album until later, choose a weekday or off-season date, or book a talented newer photographer whose portfolio you love.
