We are Jaz & Theo! We a wedding photography team in El Paso, here to serve our couples and photographers. We enjoy traveling, making friends, wearing cute outfits (including hats), and snuggling together often.
We are so excited to be sharing our guest bedroom reveal!
This has been about 8 months in the works. Yes that long. Most of it was made just by working on it 4-8 hours a week. Getting rid of the popcorn ceiling was the best improvement! We had also already textured the ceiling but didn’t like it so we added the shiplap over top of it. We love the cosines it brings. The trim work also greatly improved the room. We painted all the trim work the same color so that it just envelopes you. I love the plaid trim work I made up and then just the simple box trim work on the wall next to it almost as a continuation of it but slightly different. The beams were the best decision. I made the hanging headboard and I am going to be doing a post about how to make one soon.
Running the electrical and adding a light to this room has really improved the quality! I still can’t believe that I found this light at the thrift store for $7 dollars. It even came with a light bulb still in it and we didn’t have to do anything to it, just hook it up. Most of this stuff in the room was bought second hand. The used once Tempur-pedic, the mirror, the light, the lamps, the nightstands, the curtain, the mirror, the dresser, the garden stool, the glass vases, the silver platter and the bookmarks and scissors, the decorations on the nightstands, all the artwork except the 50 state quarters and frame (that was a gift from my grandparents), and except for the wood trees which were made by Theo’s dad.
The one thing that was brand new was the basket. It is from World Market click here for it. I did get it for free since I won a gift card. My second time ever winning anything! Here is a link for the new closet knobs I got from Hobby Lobby. The duvet and duvet cover are from Cariloha. The sheets are from Parachute and are honestly the best sheets we have ever had. The are full linen and we love the wrinklyness of it and how it doesn’t stick to us. As you can tell from the above we are pretty frugal but we splurge on our bed and bedding. But in all honesty we also had been using the same two sheet sets for 7 years and they had some small holes in it and those ones were very cheap.
Also I was afraid that we had hung the mirror too high but then the garden stool fit right under it and if it was any lower than it would have been too short for Theo. The one thing that is not finished is the door. In the last photo you can see that we need to paint the door trim black. I am also waiting to find a solid wood door. And I am hoping to get a wide angle lens to be able to get some better photos but hope these are good enough.
Let us know if you have any questions and tell us what you like the most about this room!
